Do's & Don'ts

Small Details Make a BIG Difference

What to do Before your microblading procedure

Lets be honest, Microblading is a wonderful investment! In order to ensure great results we have to put a little time and effort into the before and after! Here is a list of the Do’s and Don’ts for the best result possible! –XOXO Benzo

The Prep: It all starts with a good canvas! The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.  Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure.

•      Do allow 3-4 hours for your appointment in your schedule.

•    Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before procedure

•    Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face

•    Do not have any type of facial/peel 2 weeks prior to treatment

•    Discontinue Vitamin A/Retinol products one month prior to treatment

•    Do not work out the day of (BEFORE) the procedure. (See healing details for AFTER procedure details)

•    Do not have botox 3 weeks prior

•    Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

•    Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

•    Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

•    Do not consume coffee or any caffeine before your procedure

•    Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

•      Do not bring children to your appointment. ( There are needles and blood exposure. It is a lengthy process and children tend to get bored.)

•  DO wear healing ointment after procedure. (samples will be given.)

•  DO wear hats during sun exposure post procedure

***DO WAKE UP FABULOUS EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Important! Some redness/swelling/light bruising and slight itching during the healing process post procedure is normal. If you experience heavy itching, extreme swelling, blistering, or any other complications within the first 24 hours post-procedure, stop using your after-care product immediately. If symptoms continue, or you experience abnormal swelling/redness or shortness of breath/trouble breathing go to the closest Hospital ER immediately you may be having an allergic reaction to the pigment and/or the after care product you are using!

General instructions for care of all Permanent Make-up Applications:

One touch-up visit is free and must be scheduled for, and completed, between 4 to 6 weeks post procedure. You will lose your free touch-up if you fail to have it done in that time frame-unless a special arrangement is made with your technician on your procedure day. If you no-show touch-up appointment there can be no special arrangement – you will have to pay for your touch-up. Most permanent makeup procedures are a two-step process. Final results cannot be determined until touch-up application is completed. The touch-up is intended to fill in any discoloration caused by the healing and shedding process. We strongly suggest to all clients that they make an appointment and come in to let us see the procedure area(s) whether or not they feel they need a touch-up.

Do not wash/use makeup remover on the procedure area(s) or apply makeup for 48 hours. Do not touch the procedure area(s) with your fingers, they may have bacteria on them and may create an infection. Use a clean cotton swab to apply A&D Ointment or Aquaphor 5 times daily for 7 to 10 days. We suggest A&D Ointment or Aquaphor as it is non-reactive for most clients. If you are allergic to them call your Doctor for an alternative. Do not rub or traumatize the procedure area(s) while it is healing (pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue). Avoid sweating (Yes this includes exercising) -and contact with animals, gardening, sun, sauna, jacuzzi, chlorine pools, ocean, steam room. To preserve color for a longer time, always use a “total sun block” sunscreen until the area(s) have healed to prevent future fading of pigment color. Do not use products that contain AHA’s on the procedure area(s). (Example: Glycolic, Lactic Acids. Always check your product labeling as these products will fade your pigment color.

For all permanent makeup procedures: Avoid sweating, swimming, tanning, steam rooms/sauna or jacuzzi for one week.

Additional instructions for care of Eyebrows:

  • For 1 day: Do not wash the area on day of procedure.

  • For 7 to 10 days: Always use a very mild soap on the area and re-apply the Aquaphor or A&D right after. Before bathing apply a light coating of Aquaphor or A&D ointment on the procedure area using a clean cotton swab. (DO NOT USE Vaseline)

  • Wear a hat to shield the area from the sun when you go outside. Continue this regime until the procedure area has completely healed.

LIP BLUSH PRE-PROCEDURE

LIP BLUSH

•I Delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, so if you have any social plans in the days after your procedure, bear this in mind.

• Entirely avoid coffee or caffeine on the day of your treatment.
•Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 2 days prior to your

appointment. Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor. Do not consume alcohol for 2 days prior to your appointment.

•Do not use Retin A skincare products close to the area to be treated for 6 weeks prior to your procedure.

•Do not use AHA skincare products close to the area to be treated for 4 weeks prior to your procedure.

•Avoid professional chemical peels close to the procedure site for 4 weeks prior to your procedure.

•If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex) and are scheduling a lip enhancement, it’s advised that you to use anti-herpes medication such as Zovirax ointment that can be obtained from a pharmacy. Use the medication for 1-week prior and 1-week after your appointment up to 5 times a day to reduce the incidence of an outbreak by 50%. Oral anti-herpes medication (Acyclovir) will control the incidence of an outbreak more or less completely. PMU does not cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, it lays dormant in the nervous system and can be aroused by the infusion process.

LIP BLUSH POST CARE

Before: The lips were lacking color definition and patches were visible

Day 1: The day after the treatment the lips will feel tight and the color will be more intense.

Day 2: The lips will begin to crack, commonplace is the corners due to movement of the lips. Flakes will start to lift off the lip.

Day 3-4: More visible flakes will begin to slide off the lips. The color underneath will appear light/pale in color. The lips will almost look ‘milky’ looking

Day 5: The flakes will all be off but the color will still appear light in color. The color will blossom over the next 6 weeks.

6 Weeks Healed: You can see the color has blossomed into the rosy hue we chose for our client. The pigment always cools down during the healing due to layers of skin masking the pigment in the dermis. I am happy with the results!
